Stockholm, 28 January 2020 - SecureAppbox joins the EU Cloud Code of Conduct (EU Cloud CoC) General Assembly. The Stockholm-based company was founded in 2011 and offers privacy-enhancing cloud services to clients in more than 160 countries.
“We are delighted to welcome SecureAppbox as our latest new industry member. Their decision to join the General Assembly shows the relevance of EU Cloud Code of Conduct for small and medium-sized cloud providers. With the way we have structured our membership and governance methods to be accessible for smaller innovative players, we are very keen to welcome SME cloud providers such as SecureAppbox”, said Jonathan Sage, Government and Regulatory Affairs Executive at IBM and Chairman of the EU Cloud CoC. The EU Cloud CoC provides a tiered membership scheme, making it more accessible and attractive for small and medium-sized companies to join and become adherent to the Code.
“A European code of conduct for cloud services allows the industry to specify how to apply the GDPR rules in practice. EU Cloud Code of Conduct specific guidance provides good support for European SMEs and contributes to safer solutions and simplified procurement. Increased transparency is important for all parties in the cloud industry”, said Anders Jonson, Founder and VP Services at SecureAppbox.
The EU Cloud Code of Conduct is a sector-specific Code pursuant to GDPR Article 40, currently pending the endorsement and official approval by supervisory authorities. Among the key benefits of the Code is its applicability to the full spectrum of cloud services, as all services types (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) can be declared adherent against the Code. The Code’s General Assembly members are eligible to declare their services adherent and make them subject to the robust monitoring and assessment of the Code’s Monitoring Body, thereby underpinning GDPR compliance.
